Job summary

ClearBank is seeking a Director of Engineering for UK Payments to lead the technology strategy, delivery oversight, and evolution of payments capabilities for UK clients. You will partner with Product to shape the roadmap, ensure robust foundations, and drive the evolution of a high‑throughput, regulated payments platform.

Qualifications

Senior technology leadership experience (Director or equivalent) within payments, financial services, or regulated domains.
Proven track record in owning and evolving complex platforms with high throughput.
Strong domain understanding of payments and related risk/regulatory considerations.
Experience partnering with product leadership to shape and deliver long-term strategy.

Responsibilities

Own and evolve the technology strategy for UK Payments aligned with the wider platform.
Provide domain leadership and challenge on build/buy/partner decisions as capabilities mature.
Oversee delivery with UK Payments engineering teams to ensure scale and reliability.
Maintain strong engineering fundamentals: resilience, security, and operational readiness.
Lead and develop engineers and managers, setting expectations and fostering ownership.
