Job summary

National Highways is seeking an Engineering Team Manager in the Southeast region to lead a team of engineers and technicians focused on pavement asset management, safety, and reliability. The role involves developing regional plans, prioritising works, and ensuring governance and value-for-money in funding approvals.

The position is based at either Basingstoke or Maidstone, with required driving for the role and only candidates with ≤3 points on their license considered.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to lead and develop technical teams.
• Strong experience in asset management decision making and lifecycle cost analysis.
• Experience building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and line manage engineers and technicians with focus on safety and performance.
• Develop regional Forward Program and Asset Management Plans for Pavement assets.
• Identify maintenance, renewal and improvement needs with option studies and cost considerations.
• Govern renewal and improvement schemes with evidence of value for money to secure funding.
• Manage team resources and outsourced work to ensure proper resourcing.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and supply chain to drive efficiencies and improvements.
