Job summary

National Highways is seeking an Engineering Team Manager to lead the Southeast region Operations team. Based at either Basingstoke or Maidstone, you will drive an engineering agenda across pavement assets, with travel required and a maximum of 3 points on your driving licence.

Qualifications

• Chartered or Incorporated professional with a degree or equivalent experience.
• Extensive asset management decision-making experience (capital investment, lifecycle costs, value optimisation).
• Strong knowledge of technical standards, asset policies, and maintenance requirements.
• Good Health & Safety knowledge and CDM regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and line manage a team of engineers and technicians, with health, safety and wellbeing at the forefront.
• Produce and develop the regional Forward Program and Asset Management Plans for the Pavement assets.
• Identify and prioritise maintenance, renewal and improvement needs, undertake studies, optioneering and preliminary designs.
• Comply with governance processes for renewal and improvement schemes and secure funding.
• Manage allocation of team resources, including outsourced work.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, partners, including supply chain and customers.
• Continuously identify opportunities for efficiencies with stakeholders.
