Job summary

Smart 1 Recruitment Limited is seeking a time served Engineering Patternmaker to construct patterns and moulds from metal, wood and composite materials from drawings and CAD data. You will maintain tools and equipment and support day-to-day production with a hands-on approach.

The candidate should have experience in composites, woodworking and metalwork, be self-motivated and a team player with the ability to read drawings and set up machines like mills and lathes.

Qualifications

• Experience in jigs & fixtures desirable.
• Experience in Foundry Tooling desirable.
• Experience in CNC machining desirable.
• Team player with pride in work and drive to meet deadlines.
• Familiarity with CAD/CAM software.

Responsibilities

• Construct patterns and moulds from metal, wood and composite materials from drawings/CAD data.
• Maintain tools and equipment including cleaning and safe storage.
• Carry out day-to-day production as required per manufacturing instructions.
• Reduce waste and dispose of materials per procedures.
• Conduct quality assurance and safety checks on tooling.
• Work to tight tolerances and in-process measurements.
• Read and interpret drawings.
• Set up and operate machines such as sanders, circular saws, band saws, mills and lathes.

Job description

Leading CAD/CAM tooling solutions company, seeks a time served Engineering Patternmaker to construct patterns and moulds from metal, wood and composite materials from drawings/CAD data. Joining a long serving team, as Engineering Patternmaker you would be responsible for the maintenance of tools and equipment, whilst providing a hands‑on approach in each tool manufactured.

Successful candidate for the position of Engineering Patternmaker would possess experience in composites, woodworking and metalwork, be self‑motivated, a team player and have experience in setting/operating machines such as; sanders, circular saws, band saws, mills and lathes. Offered as a permanent contract, the role of Engineering Patternmaker offers market competitive salary, company benefits and immediate start.

Engineering Patternmaker duties include:

• Constructing patterns and moulds from metal, wood and composite materials from drawings and CAD data
• Maintenance of tools and equipment which includes cleaning and safe storage
• Carrying out day to day production as required, in line with manufacturing instructions
• Reduce waste and ensure all waste materials are disposed of in accordance with company and legislative procedures
• Conducting quality assurance and safety checks on all tooling
• Working to tight tolerances and in process measurements
• Ability to read and interpret drawings
• Setting up and operating machines such as; sanders, circular saws, band saws, mills and lathes

Skills and attributes required by successful candidate for the role of Engineering Patternmaker:

Location: Willenhall, West Midlands

Hours of work: 7:30am to 4:00pm Monday to Thursday, 7:30am to 12:30pm Friday

Salary: £18 per hour x 39-hour week - negotiable dependent upon experience
