Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a patient care assistant to support nursing staff with direct observation, safety, and routine tasks. You will respond to call bells, assist in patient rounding, and help transport patients while maintaining high standards of care and communication.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, BLS certification within 3 months, and de-escalation training. You will work under RN supervision in a hospital setting with rotating shifts and CBAs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED (Health Sciences track preferred).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 3 months of hire.
• De-escalation training during unit orientation.
• Ability to assist with patient observation and safety.

Responsibilities

• Directly observe patients and respond to call lights promptly.
• Participate in patient rounding as directed by the RN.
• Ensure environmental safety and restock supplies as needed.
• Transport patients within the department and to other units.
• Clean and prepare patient equipment; complete care documentation.
• Communicate changes in patient behavior to the RN; coordinate with interpreters as needed.
• Contribute to unit quality improvement activities.
