Job summary

Minehead Medical Centre is hiring a Patient Navigator to join our administrative team. You will ensure the smooth running of the surgery, greet patients, manage check-ins, handle calls, and support the team to deliver excellent care.

This is a fixed-term contract for 6 months. We can consider full-time (40 hours) or part-time arrangements. Right to work in the UK is required; sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in healthcare or administrative roles desirable but not essential.
  • Full training will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Welcoming patients and visitors, managing check-ins, and providing information.
  • Answering phone calls and handling inquiries with empathy and professionalism.
  • Scheduling and managing appointments using our system.
  • Processing prescription requests from patients and pharmacies.
  • Handling patient queries in person, on the phone, and via email.
  • Managing correspondence and keeping reception tidy.
  • Completing registrations and patient updates.

Are you a friendly, outgoing individual with excellent communication skills and confidence using IT systems? Do you thrive on administrative tasks and stay calm under the pressure of managing multiple phone calls every day? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

Minehead Medical Centre is seeking aPatient Navigatorto join our welcoming administrative team. In this essential role, you’ll ensure the smooth running of the surgery, providing patients with a positive experience while supporting our team to deliver outstanding care. We understand how important your role is and will value your contributions every step of the way.

This is a fixed-term contract, 6 months. Full-time (40 hours per week) or part-time can be considered.

What We’re Looking For
  • A confident communicator with a friendly, patient, and professional attitude.
  • Someone who can handle a fast-paced, demanding environment with ease.
  • Prior experience in healthcare or administrative roles is desirable, but not essential. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities

  • Keeping the reception area tidy and ensuring smooth handovers for colleagues.
  • Completing administrative tasks such as patient registrations and updates.
What You’ll Bring

  • Confidence in using IT systems and basic office software.

Since 1990, Minehead Medical Centre has provided healthcare services to its community. It is the only GP service in the area. The other two GP surgeries are located much further out on the outskirts. The patient list size is 12,330 with a slightly higher number of ageing population when compared to the rest of Somerset. In recent years, Minehead Medical Centre has undergone refurbishment works to provide additional clinical rooms on the ground floor.

Supported by the larger Group, Minehead Medical Centre delivers excellent care to the patients and communities around Minehead. The Medical Centre is a central hub in the town, with a team as close-knit as the rest of Minehead’s population.
