Job summary

Sodexo is seeking a Ward Catering Assistant at Nuffield Health Haywards Heath Hospital. You will deliver and serve nutritious meals to patients, ensure dietary needs are met, and maintain cleanliness and safety in kitchens and dining areas.

A cheerful attitude and great customer service make a real difference in patient wellbeing. You’ll follow instructions, support stock and food safety, and be part of a team providing excellent patient care.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar role or willingness to learn
• A Food Safety Level 2 certificate (or equivalent), or a willingness to achieve this
• A positive, reliable and caring approach, with a genuine desire to provide excellent service to patients
• Good communication and listening skills, with the ability to work well as part of a team
• The ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and work efficiently
• A commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness
• Good timekeeping, reliability and a flexible approach to supporting the team
• A willingness to learn and complete required training, including maintaining mandatory standards

Responsibilities

• Deliver a friendly, high-quality meal service to patients, ensuring dignity, care and excellent customer service
• Prepare, assemble and serve patient meals accurately, including special dietary requirements
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and infection prevention in line with hospital and company policies
• Complete food temperature checks, quality records and other required documentation accurately
• Keep ward kitchens, catering equipment and work areas clean, safe and well stocked
• Support stock rotation, waste reduction and the safe transportation of food trolleys
• Work as part of a team, following instructions and helping with other catering duties as required
