Job summary

NHS Lanarkshire is seeking a dedicated Healthcare Support Worker to assist with routine personal care and support the clinical team in delivering high-quality patient care within a ward or department.

You will work under the supervision of a registered nurse, performing hygiene tasks, supporting with observations, and helping to maintain accurate records. A person-centred approach and adherence to safety standards are essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of personal care and routines required.
• On-the-job training and induction required.
• Undertake mandatory HCSW standards.
• Ability to work with people as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out assigned tasks delivering and supporting direct patient care under a registered nurse.
• Co-operate with other disciplines to maximise patient care.
• Maintain empathic relationships with carers and relatives and refer questions to a nurse.
• Report changes in patients' needs and maintain accurate records.
