Job summary

Britten Pears Arts (BPA) is seeking a Programme Manager: Pathways to lead the strategic planning and delivery of formal music learning pathways for children and young people. The role combines strategic oversight with hands-on delivery at Snape Maltings, with travel to other Suffolk locations as needed.

The postholder will ensure inclusive progression, oversee partnerships, budgets and team management, and contribute to safeguarding and educational excellence. Closing date: 21-09-2026.

Qualifications

• Trained musician with significant experience in music education and programme/event management.
• Ability to develop inclusive, progressive music learning pathways.
• Experience working with schools, hubs and sector organisations.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, delivery and development of Pathways programmes (AYM, KS1 Musicianship, Friday Afternoons).
• Ensure coherent progression routes for children and young people.
• Collaborate with artists and tutors to create curricula and outcomes.
• Oversee recruitment, assessment and progression with accessible processes.
• Develop partnerships with schools, music hubs and conservatoires.
• Oversee rehearsals, courses, concerts and participant experiences.
• Manage programme budgets and financial compliance.
• Ensure safeguarding, licensing, DBS and DfE requirements.
• Line-manage staff, freelancers and artists; drive professional development.
• Lead monitoring, evaluation and reporting for continuous improvement.
• Represent BPA externally and support youth voice initiatives.
