Job Summary

Our Pathology service covers a range of disciplines, providing 12 million test results per annum in blood sciences (haematology, transfusion, biochemistry, immunology) and cellular sciences (microbiology, cellular pathology, mortuary & bereavement services). We promote career development pathways throughout the team at all levels. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new post within our pathology team. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to assist the Quality team with data preparation, meeting minutes, planning management meetings, and other administrative duties. The successful candidate will support the Quality Manager and Pathology departments in maintaining the Quality Management System, ensuring standards such as UKAS, HTA, MHRA, and ISO 15189 are met.

Main duties of the job
  • Assist with administration and maintenance of the Quality Management System for Pathology services.
  • Support staff at all grades with accreditation activities, record keeping, data collection, meeting support, and documentation via Qpulse.
  • Use Microsoft Office packages and be trained in Pathology laboratory information systems for document control and non-conformity reporting.
  • Travel independently across Trust sites in Durham and Darlington.

Job Responsibilities

Support the Pathology department by maintaining records, data, and supporting regulatory standards. Work with meeting chairs, communicate with staff, and work autonomously under the guidance of the Quality Manager. Follow SOPs and policies, and train staff as needed.

Qualifications (Essential)
  • Minimum of 3 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade C or above, including English.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration or equivalent.
Experience (Essential)
  • Clerical or reception work.
Skills and Knowledge (Essential)
  • Ability to work independently following protocols.
  • Good communication skills, computer literacy, and team work.
  • Knowledge of Data Protection and confidentiality principles.
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to travel across sites.
