Job summary

Ellison Institute of Technology seeks an experienced scientist to join the Pathogen Applications Team in Oxford. This hands-on role supports microbiology, molecular biology and sequencing activities across the research program.

You will receive, process and log clinical samples, perform qPCR and sequencing workflows, and maintain detailed records to enable R&D progress. The role targets early-career scientists with a relevant undergraduate degree and practical lab experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in microbiology, biomedical science, molecular biology, biological sciences, biotechnology or another relevant scientific discipline
• Hands-on practical experience in microbiology and/or molecular biology techniques
• Experience handling samples and maintaining traceability

Responsibilities

• Receive, log, process and track clinical and laboratory samples, maintaining accurate sample identification and traceability
• Perform routine laboratory processing of clinical and laboratory samples using established procedures
• Perform microbiology workflows including culture preparation and colony counting
• Perform molecular biology workflows including nucleic acid extraction and quantification
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date laboratory records and sample tracking
• Prepare reagents, media, buffers and other laboratory materials
• Support sequencing run set-up and routine sequencing operations
• Work collaboratively across the Pathogen Applications Team to support changing priorities
