Job summary

Kingston College is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Tutor to support learner progression during term time. You will conduct 1:1 meetings, run group tutorials, and signpost students to wider support while collaborating with staff and parents.

A focus on safeguarding and promoting a positive learner experience, with opportunities to contribute to careers guidance and welfare initiatives.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering student workshops or tutorials to a diverse range of students.
• Experience of youth and community work and understanding students' needs.
• Clear understanding of how to meet student needs and support progression.

Responsibilities

• Track and monitor progress of a defined number of FE learners.
• Conduct 1:1 meetings with learners.
• Deliver college group tutorial programmes.
• Liaise with staff and parents/guardians regarding learner progress.
• Signpost learners to wider support as needed.
• Support the College Safeguarding team and manage a learner caseload.

Kingston College is seeking a Pastoral Tutor.

This is an exciting new role aimed at improving the learner experience and improving the positive progression of all learners.

As a Pastoral Tutor, you will track and monitor the progress of a specific amount of our Further Education learners. This will include conducting 1:1 meetings with learners, delivering College group tutorial programmes, liaising with members of staff and parents/guardians regarding learner progress and signposting learners to wider support as and when needed. You will also be a part of the College Safeguarding team which will include supporting a caseload of students.

We’d like our Pastoral Tutors to have experience of delivering student workshops or tutorials to a diverse range of students and of supporting student progress on a 1:1 basis. We’d like you to have some experience of youth and community work and have a clear understanding of the needs of students and how these may be met.

You’ll be an excellent communicator with good interpersonal skills. You’ll be able to develop and maintain positive working relationships with people and work well as part of a high performing team. A Level 3 qualification in Youth & Community, Education, Psychology, Sociology or Health & Social Care would put you at an advantage, but it’s important to know that this is by no means essential. Experience of careers advice and guidance is also desirable.
