Job summary

Plume Academy is seeking a Pastoral Support Coordinator to join our friendly pastoral team. This term-time, fixed-term role runs until 21 July 2027, with hours 8:00–16:00 Mon-Thu and 8:00–15:30 Fri, supporting behaviour, punctuality and student engagement across the academy.

The successful candidate will have GCSEs in Maths and English (C or Level 2) and a commitment to safeguarding, with desirable TA or Level 3 childcare qualifications and a focus on Year 7–13 pastoral development.

Responsibilities

Job description

What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint a full-time Pastoral Support Coordinator to start from September 2026 on a fixed-term basis until 21 July 2027. The post offers an excellent opportunity to work in a strong pastoral department in our highly successful academy.

The core purpose of the role is to support the pastoral team in maintaining high standards of behaviour, punctuality and engagement across the academy. The role ensures students are in the right place at the right time, supports positive learning behaviours, and intervenes where students require regulation or additional pastoral support.

Personal Qualities

The successful applicant should have qualifications in Maths and English at minimum C grade [or grade 4] GCSE or equivalent Level 2 qualification. It is desirable that the applicant has further relevant qualifications e.g., TA qualification, qualification in childcare or A levels/Level 3 qualifications.

Applicants should be hardworking, enthusiastic and have a high level of commitment and ability to focus on fostering the teaching and learning and personal development of Year 7 to 13 students.

Remuneration and Working Time

This is a term-time only position, working 37 hours per week across 39 weeks per year (term time plus INSET days). Working hours are 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday to Thursday, and 8:00am to 3:30pm on Fridays, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break each day.

The salary for the Pastoral Support Coordinator role is aligned with the Academy's Support Staff Pay Scale (Band 3, Points 17-25), with a full-time equivalent salary of up to £30,025 per annum. The actual salary for this term-time position is £21,344 per annum, based on Point 17 and inclusive of an allowance for holiday pay.
