Job summary

Hugh Sexey Church of England Middle School is seeking a caring and organised Pastoral Support Assistant to support student wellbeing and achievement. The role focuses on building positive relationships with students and families and providing effective pastoral support within a caring school community.

The successful candidate will have safeguarding knowledge, strong communication skills, and the ability to work with students facing emotional or attendance challenges.

Qualifications

• Passion for supporting young people's wellbeing and development.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, families and staff.
• Excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working with children or young people, ideally in education.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
• Ability to support students facing social, emotional, behavioural or attendance challenges.
• Strong organisational, administrative and record-keeping skills.
• Calm, resilient and professional approach to challenging situations.
• Proactive, solution-focused mindset.
• Ability to work effectively within a pastoral and safeguarding team.

Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral and wellbeing support to students within the school.
• Support students to achieve their personal, social and academic goals.
• Maintain accurate records and monitor student progress and wellbeing.
