The ideal candidate is a graduate or youth worker with strong communication skills, aiming to make a genuine difference in students' learning journey and behaviour. This is a long-term, full-time opportunity starting in September.

Qualifications

  • Graduates in psychology, criminology or sociology are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Calm, patient and empathetic approach with resilience in challenging situations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one pastoral support to students.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with young people.

The Role

As a Pastoral Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students across the school, helping them to develop confidence, resilience and positive attitudes towards learning.

You will:

  • Provide one-to-one pastoral support to students.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with young people.
  • Support students experiencing social, emotional or behavioural challenges.
  • Promote positive behaviour and engagement across the school.
  • Work closely with tutors, pastoral leaders and safeguarding staff.
  • Support attendance, wellbeing and intervention programmes.
  • Help students develop strategies to overcome barriers to learning.
  • Act as a positive role model for students throughout the school day.
