Job summary

Cover People are recruiting a Pastoral Support Assistant for a specialist secondary school in Bury supporting young people with SEMH needs. You’ll help pupils re-engage with education, build confidence and develop the skills they need for life beyond school.

This is a rewarding role in a setting with small groups, a vocational curriculum and strong focus on intervention, rewards and enrichment. The role also offers the potential to become permanent for the right candidate, with ongoing school

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people with SEMH or similar needs.
• Experience in education, youth work, mentoring, care or similar.
• Calm, resilient and consistent when dealing with challenging situations.
• Confident building strong relationships with secondary-aged pupils.
• Positive, proactive and willing to get involved.
• Able to support interventions, activities and enrichment opportunities.
• Genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers and succeed.

Responsibilities

• Build positive relationships with SEMH pupils.
• Provide pastoral and emotional support throughout the day.
• Support small groups and individual pupils with engagement and behaviour.
• Deliver or support targeted interventions and enrichment activities.
• Use positive behaviour strategies to encourage progress and participation.
• Help pupils develop confidence, resilience, independence and life skills.
• Support a practical, vocational approach to learning.
• Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to meet individual needs.

Pay Rate: £100-£120 per day DOE
