Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a caring, dedicated Pastoral Mentor to provide 1:1 support to Children Looked After across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. The role offers flexible, part-time hours and an hourly rate of £25-£30, with potential for additional sessions based on need.

You will build trusting relationships, support emotional wellbeing and educational engagement, and help develop life skills, confidence and resilience in the young person.

Qualifications

• QTS, QTLS, PGCE, EYFS or an equivalent qualification.
• Experience in a UK educational setting with vulnerable children.
• Up-to-date safeguarding training.
• At least 1 year experience in an educational setting.
• Caring, patient and resilient approach to supporting young people.

Responsibilities

Job description

Prospero Teaching is looking for a caring, dedicated and resilient Pastoral Mentor to provide 1:1 support to Children Looked After (CLA) across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

The successful candidate will build a positive and trusting relationship with the young person, providing pastoral, emotional and educational support. You will help them develop confidence, resilience, independence and life skills, while encouraging positive behaviour and engagement with learning.

This is a flexible, part-time role offering £25-£30 per hour, with ongoing opportunities. Support may range from a few hours to multiple sessions per week, depending on the individual needs of the young person.

Key Responsibilities:

Experience, Training and Qualifications:

• QTS, QTLS, PGCE, EYFS or an equivalent qualification.
• Previous experience working in a UK school or educational setting.
• Experience supporting vulnerable children or young people, including Children Looked After.
• Experience in pastoral care, mentoring, youth work or support work.
• Up-to-date safeguarding training.

To be eligible for this role through Prospero Teaching, you must:

• Have the Right to Work in the UK.
• Hold an enhanced Child Barred List DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for a new DBS.
• Provide two professional child-related references.
• Have at least 1 year's experience working in an educational setting.
• Have a caring, patient, professional and resilient approach to supporting young people.
• Ideally hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
