Job summary

Willow Park School in Sheffield, a specialist SEMH provision, is seeking an experienced Pastoral Leader to shape pastoral, behavioural and emotional support across the school. You will work with pupils facing SEMH challenges using trauma-informed, relational and positive behaviour approaches to help regulate emotions and engage in learning.

You will combine strategic thinking with hands-on mentoring, collaborating with teachers, families and external agencies to ensure timely support and drive

Qualifications

• Significant SEMH experience with children and young people.
• Understanding trauma, attachment difficulties and adverse childhood experiences.
• Experience with de-escalation and physical intervention strategies.
• Able to support pupils during distress, crisis or dysregulation.
• Experience developing and implementing individual support plans and risk assessments.
• Uses interventions and data to improve outcomes for pupils.
• Builds strong relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in multi-disciplinary teams.
• Can coach and develop colleagues to improve practice.
• Leads groups of pupils and delivers social, emotional development activities.
• Ability to manage staff, delegate tasks and stay calm under pressure.
• Committed to safeguarding, inclusion and improving life chances.

Responsibilities

• Leading and developing pastoral, behaviour and engagement systems across the school.
• Supporting pupils’ emotional regulation, wellbeing and mental health.
• Working directly with pupils requiring targeted interventions and mentoring.
• Supporting staff with behaviour management strategies and relational practice.
• Building positive partnerships with parents, carers and external professionals.
• Contributing to safeguarding processes and multi-agency working.
• Delivering training and guidance to staff, families and other stakeholders.
• Using data and evaluation to monitor the effectiveness of interventions and inform future practice.
• Helping maintain a calm, structured and positive climate for learning throughout the school.
