Job summary

Dibden Park School in Southampton is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Practitioner to join our specialist team. You will provide front-line pastoral and behaviour support for pupils with SEMH needs, helping them manage emotions and re-engage with learning throughout the school day.

You will work 1:1 with identified pupils, implement consistent behaviour management strategies, monitor progress, and record incidents and assessments.

Qualifications

• Experience with children or young people with social, emotional and behavioural needs.
• Ability to build positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Calm, confident and resilient in challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide front-line pastoral and behaviour support, responding to incidents and helping pupils return to learning.
• Work 1:1 with identified pupils to build resilience, emotional regulation and engagement in education.
• Implement and promote consistent behaviour management strategies in line with the school Behaviour Policy.
• Monitor, record and analyse behaviour data, maintaining accurate incident records, risk assessments and intervention plans.
• Support teaching staff with behaviour management and provide on-call assistance to minimise disruption to learning.
• Liaise with families, carers, school staff and external agencies to coordinate effective support for pupils.
• Supervise pupils during unstructured times and encourage positive behaviour and participation in school life.
