Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting an experienced Pastoral Lead to join a school in Dorchester, Dorset. This role is vital for supporting pupils' wellbeing, behaviour, attendance and personal development, working closely with students, staff, families and the wider pastoral team.

You will build positive relationships with students, identify and address barriers to learning, monitor behaviour and progress, and coordinate targeted interventions.

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for an experienced and committed Pastoral Lead to join a school in Dorchester.

This is an important role for an individual who is passionate about supporting young people's wellbeing, behaviour, attendance and personal development. The successful candidate will work closely with students, teaching staff, families and the wider pastoral team to provide consistent and effective support.

You will be responsible for developing positive relationships with students and helping remove barriers that may prevent them from fully engaging with school.

Key Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day pastoral support to students

Monitor and respond to attendance concerns

Support students experiencing barriers to learning

Monitor behaviour and implement appropriate interventions

Build strong, trusting relationships with students

Work closely with teachers and support staff

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally have:

Previous experience in a pastoral, safeguarding, behaviour or student-support role

Experience working with young people within an education or similar setting

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Strong organisational and administrative skills

The ability to build positive relationships with students

A calm, consistent and professional approach

Confidence dealing with challenging situations

The ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents and external professionals

A strong understanding of the importance of safeguarding and confidentiality

A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people

This position would suit an experienced Pastoral Lead, Pastoral Manager, Behaviour Mentor, Head of Year or similar education professional.
