Job summary

Protocol Education is recruiting a dedicated SEMH Pastoral Support Worker to join a specialist SEMH school in Romford/Basildon from September. You will support students with emotional wellbeing, behaviour and development, helping them engage in learning and build confidence.

The role involves working closely with teachers and pastoral staff to provide consistent, individualised support, manage challenging behaviour calmly, and promote safe, positive choices throughout the school day.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH or behavioural/additional needs.
• Calm, patient and confident when managing challenging behaviour.
• Strong, resilient approach to supporting vulnerable pupils.
• Ability to build trusting relationships while maintaining clear boundaries.
• Passion for emotional wellbeing, confidence and independence in students.
• Reliable and proactive team member with collaborative spirit.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils' emotional wellbeing, behaviour and personal development.
• Promote engagement, learning and positive choices throughout the school day.
• Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and colleagues to provide consistent support.
• Assist in implementing behaviour strategies and safeguarding procedures.
