Job summary

Cheshire East Council is looking for a part-time Transport Services Assistant to help passengers get on and off vehicles, carry luggage, and ensure comfort and safety. You will support the driver, operate lifts and wheelchair tie-downs, and assist with seating changes as required.

The role requires awareness of vulnerable people and the ability to read maps, with good communication across diverse backgrounds.

Qualifications

• Awareness of the needs of vulnerable people and knowledge of local area.
• Basic literacy, and numeracy and the ability to read maps.
• Ability to communicate with people from different backgrounds and/or abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist passengers travelling on Transport Services vehicles and help with getting on/off, luggage and equipment to ensure comfort and safety.
• Assist the driver in delivering an efficient transport service; operate lifts, steps, wheelchair tie-downs and occupant restraint systems; remove and replace seating as needed.

Job description

To assist passengers travelling on Transport Services vehicles to and from their destination, assisting with getting on and off the vehicle; carrying and stowing luggage and equipment as required; and to ensure the passengers' comfort and safety at all times.

About The Role

To assist the driver in the provision of an efficient and effective transport service, having due regard to the needs of all passengers whilst in your care. Operate all auxiliary equipment fitted to vehicles such as lifts, steps, wheelchair tie -down & occupant restraint systems, the removal and replacement of seating where needed.
