Dorset Council is recruiting a Regular Passenger Assistant to support children and young people with additional needs on transport routes from Weymouth. This role is approximately 10 hours per week during term time, with pay starting at £13.05 per hour (training may raise to £13.05 per hour based on medical training).
Applicants should be able to work morning and afternoon to fit school times and be physically capable of assisting on journeys, including lifting if required.
Dorset Travel coordinate the transport provision for children and young people with additional needs within Dorset as well as out of county. The team also supply and support transport need for Mainstream, Child Care as well as Adults.
A Regular Passenger Assistant is required from the Weymouth Area contracted at approximately 10 hours per week - Term Time Only commencing at £13.05 per hour. One of the students on the route has medical requirements and therefore additional training will be provided. This medical training will increase the pay from £12.85 per hour to £13.05 per hour.
The role of a Passenger Assistant is to support children and young people with additional needs providing assistance/support in maintaining a safe environment on the journey from/to home/school.
This vacancy is to support a young person/s serving Wyvern Academy.
Candidates need to be available morning and afternoon to coincide with school opening and closing times.
You must be physically fit with the ability to run, bend, stretch, push, pull, lift, carry and kneel to provide the care required for the position of a Passenger Assistant.
Dorset Travel is also an accredited training centre with experienced and qualified trainers, new staff will be invited onto a full induction training course, providing the tools and knowledge to enable you to work safely and professionally.

In the first year of service this salary may need to be adjusted to ensure you are paid accurately to reflect your holiday entitlement. A similar adjustment may be made at the point your employment ends to ensure that you are paid accurately for the number of days worked in any academic year.
