Job summary

King Highway Products, part of The Martin Group, is seeking a commercially minded Parts Controller to join our Market Harborough site. You will manage stock levels, process orders, liaise with suppliers and actively sell parts to customers and group companies.

This role offers full training, a supportive small team, and the opportunity to contribute to efficient stock control and parts sales while ensuring accuracy and great customer service.

Qualifications

  • Experience in parts, stock control or inventory roles.
  • Proficient with inventory systems and Excel.
  • Proactive, commercially aware and able to work in a small team.

Responsibilities

  • Process and manage parts requests for production, service and customers.
  • Monitor stock levels and place orders to maintain availability.
  • Manage stock control processes including cycle counting and imprest stock.
  • Set up new parts on the system with pricing and photographs.
  • Prepare kits, quotations and parts sales.
  • Coordinate picking, despatch and documentation.
  • Liaise with suppliers for pricing, lead times and orders.
  • Maintain accurate parts pricing in the inventory system.
  • Ensure health and safety and company procedures.

King Highway Products is the UK’s leading supplier of specialist vehicles and equipment to the traffic management industry. We design and build specialist vehicles at our Market Harborough site and are looking for a capable and enthusiastic person to support our continued growth.

The Opportunity:

King Highway Products is looking for a commercially minded and detail-focused Parts Controller to join our small but expanding parts team. This is a key role responsible for supporting production and service teams by managing stock levels, processing orders, liaising with suppliers, and actively selling parts to customers and group companies.

This role offers a great opportunity for someone who is practical, detail-focused, and able to pick things up quickly. Full training and support will be provided, so the right attitude and a willingness to learn are just as important as previous experience.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Accurately process and manage parts requests for production, service, engineers and customer requirements.
  • Monitor stock levels and place orders to maintain appropriate stock availability.
  • Manage stock control processes, including cycle counting, imprest stock and workshop stock.
  • Ensure all stock movements, part locations, pricing and associated information are accurately maintained within the company’s inventory system.
  • Set up new parts on the system, including allocation, pricing and photographs.
  • Prepare kits and parts requirements for new vehicle builds.
  • Prepare parts quotations, process parts sales and identify opportunities to supply parts to customers and group companies.
  • Manage one-off parts requirements and source parts from appropriate suppliers, carrying out price comparisons where required.
  • Liaise with suppliers to obtain pricing, confirm availability and lead times, place orders and resolve any issues.
  • Receive and check incoming goods against orders, ensuring parts are correctly recorded, labelled, photographed and allocated to the correct location.
  • Coordinate the picking, issuing and despatch of parts, ensuring all relevant documentation is accurately completed and filed. .
  • Monitor and manage the parts inbox, responding to internal and external parts enquiries.
  • Maintain accurate parts pricing and ensure pricing within the inventory system remains up to date.
  • Manage departmental consumables, stationery, clothing and uniform requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of organisation and housekeeping across the stores and parts areas.
  • Provide regular updates to the Parts Manager on stock levels, purchasing requirements, supplier performance and parts sales.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy, efficiency and customer service across all parts-related activities.
  • Ensure all relevant Health & Safety, quality and company procedures are followed.
Experience, Qualifications and Skills required:
  • Previous experience in a parts, stock control, or inventory-based role (ideally in an automotive, manufacturing, or engineering environment) – Desirable
  • Ability to use own initiative – Essential
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail – Essential
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills – Essential
  • Proficient in using inventory systems and MS Office (especially Excel) – Essential
  • A proactive and commercially aware mindset, with the ability to identify sales opportunities – Essential
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a small, busy team – Essential
  • Experience in parts sales or quotations – Desirable
  • Knowledge of vehicle parts, mechanical components, or engineering kits – Desirable
  • Familiarity with logistics, goods-in/goods-out processes, and supplier liaison – Desirable
