Job summary

Wiltshire Council is seeking a passionate Habilitation Specialist to join our SEND Service across Wiltshire. You will assess needs, design and deliver tailored habilitation programmes, and support children and young people with vision impairment in homes, nurseries, schools, colleges and community settings.

Qualifications

• Qualified Habilitation Specialist with either BSc (Hons) Qualified Habilitation Specialist (Children and Young People) or Habilitation and Disabilities of Sight Graduate Diploma Course, or a registered Vision Rehabilitation Specialist with Level 5 qualification.
• Experience teaching mobility and independence skills and solid case management abilities preferred.
• Commitment to helping children and young people overcome barriers and achieve their ambitions.

Responsibilities

• Assess needs, design and deliver tailored habilitation programmes.
• Deliver habilitation for children and young people in homes, nurseries, schools, colleges and community settings.
• Monitor progress, adapt training plans and contribute to EHCPs.
• Undertake environmental and access audits and provide specialist advice.
• Deliver habilitation awareness training to those supporting the child or young person.
