Job summary

Theatre Royal Plymouth is seeking Ushers to join our Visitor Experience team. This part-time, permanent role offers a friendly, customer-facing environment where you welcome visitors, check tickets, help people find their seats and share information about productions and facilities.

You will be on shifts across matinee and evening performances, with availability for minimum two performances per week and two weekends a month. Training and PPE are provided.

Responsibilities

• Take part in a pre-performance briefing at the start of each shift.
• Provide a friendly and welcoming experience for everyone visiting TRP.
• Check printed and electronic tickets using electronic scanners and visual checks.
• Give visitors clear information and directions, helping them find their seating areas and other facilities.
• Confidently assist visitors who require access support.
• Maintain a good knowledge of our productions, venues, facilities and services.
• Respond positively and proactively to visitor enquiries, offering help wherever possible.
• Support the safe and effective management of queues and crowds.
• Observe the audience during performances and respond to any issues affecting visitor comfort or safety.
• Sell programmes, merchandise and ice creams, including processing card payments.
• Collect litter and carry out auditorium pick-ups when required, normally at the end of a performance.
• Report any concerns relating to safety, security, visitor behaviour, housekeeping or building services to a Supervisor or member of the House Management team.
• Use and look after any uniform or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided.
• Attend training sessions and team meetings to maintain a good understanding of fire, health and safety, security and evacuation procedures.
• Carry out other reasonable duties to support the Visitor Experience team.
