Job summary

Walkwood Church of England Middle School in England is seeking a Teaching Assistant (TA2) with a SEND focus on autism to support pupils with additional needs under the direction of a teacher.

The role requires GCSEs in English and Maths and a Level 2/3 TA qualification, plus evidence of ongoing professional development in SEND.

EssentialQualifications & Training

• GCSEs (orequivalent) in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
• Relevant Level 2or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or willingness to work towards)
• Evidence ofcontinuous professional development, particularly in SEND and autism support

Experience

• Proven experienceworking as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational support role
• Demonstrableexperience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities(SEND)
• Experienceworking with pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)

Knowledge &Understanding

• Goodunderstanding of autism and its impact on learning, communication, and socialinteraction
• Awareness ofinclusive teaching practices and differentiation strategies
• Understanding ofsafeguarding procedures and child protection responsibilities
• Familiarity withbehaviour management strategies, including positive behaviour supportapproaches
