Job summary

Reading Borough Council is seeking a part-time Social Worker to join the Advice and Wellbeing Hub. You will deliver short-term, person-centred interventions for adults and carers, focusing on independence, wellbeing, and safety in the home. The role emphasizes early intervention and collaboration with health partners and external agencies.

You will work under the Conversations Count model, with access to development opportunities and support for CPD as you grow as a social worker.

Qualifications

• Requires a Social Work degree and registration with Social Work England.
• Solid understanding of the Care Act 2014 and its application.
• Experience applying strengths-based practice in adult social care is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Completing strengths‑based Care Act assessments.
• Undertaking Mental Capacity assessments.
• Coordinating best interest decisions.
• Managing safeguarding enquiries where needed.
• Offering clear, practical advice, information, and guidance.
• Managing a short‑term, varied caseload designed to boost wellbeing and independence.
