Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker for the Cognitive & Physical Disabilities Team in Hinckley. This 18.5 hour per week role is fixed-term for 12 months, with a supportive team, regular supervision, and pathways for professional development.

The post requires registration with Social Work England, a valid UK driving licence or access to a vehicle, and willingness to work flexibly including hybrid options.

Qualifications

• Be a qualified Social Worker and registered with Social Work England.
• Knowledge of social work methodologies and care policies including The Care Act, Mental Health Act, and Mental Capacity Act.
• Experience in safeguarding, court work, and multi-agency collaboration is essential.
• Experience with Cognitive and Physical Disabilities is advantageous.
• Strong communication, diplomacy, and time management skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Care Act assessments, safeguarding, and Best Interests decisions.
• Engage in court work and multi‑disciplinary/hospital discharge processes as needed.
• Work within Locality based C&PD teams to promote independence and wellbeing.
• Collaborate with Community Support Worker, AHMP, and other roles to meet assessed needs.
