Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Assistant Sleep Physiologist to join the Adult Sleep Team. The role is permanent and part‑time (15h/week) at Band 2, based mainly at the Lymington New Forest Hospital site, with a night shift component in inpatient settings.

You will support diagnostic sleep testing, assist CPAP therapy patients, and help with service delivery, stock, and equipment management while working flexibly across sites within the trust.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths, Biology (or other science) at A–C (4-9) grade.
• Strong desire to learn and develop within sleep physiology.
• Excellent communication skills, verbally and written.
• Experience of working with the public.
• Confident speaking to groups of patients.
• Ability to work late and night shifts.
• Ability to work across sites.

Responsibilities

• Support the Sleep Physiology Team to deliver an efficient service, mostly inpatient (one night shift per week).
• Provide flexibility to support outpatient activity as required.
• Assist with diagnostic sleep testing and support patients on long‑term CPAP therapy.
• Help manage patient support line and stock/equipment maintenance within the sleep service.
• Collaborate with colleagues daily to meet patient and service needs.
