Job summary

City of Liverpool College is seeking a part-time Science Technician to support Biology, Chemistry and Physics labs. The role involves preparing materials, solutions, and equipment, trialling experiments for safety, and maintaining stock across laboratories.

It also includes delivering small-group catch-up sessions and assisting teachers with practical lessons. The candidate should have a Level 3 qualification or relevant industry experience and proven wet lab skills.

Qualifications

• Proven wet lab skills and ability to work in a laboratory setting.
• Experience in education lab environments is preferred.
• Knowledge of health and safety practices in specialist areas.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up practical materials, solutions and equipment for Biology and Chemistry lessons.
• Trial experiments to ensure safety and classroom readiness.
• Maintain laboratory resources and move equipment between labs.
• Support teachers during practical lessons and with student needs.
• Deliver catch-up sessions for small groups.
• Assist with Physics resources and equipment.
• Check, clean, test and repair equipment; dispose of hazardous waste.
• Store chemicals and materials safely; keep stock records.
