Job summary

Falkirk Council is seeking reliable Janitors to join the Facilities (Soft FM) team and help keep schools in the Falkirk Council area clean, secure, and well-maintained. You will support safety, monitor contractors and assist with health and safety compliance across Dunipace Primary School and related sites.

The role requires hands-on maintenance, strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience in facilities management, site supervision or building maintenance.
• A working knowledge of Health & Safety, COSHH, and building systems.
• Organised, proactive, and able to manage tasks independently.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with children and young people is desirable.
• A full driving licence is helpful but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety, security and upkeep of buildings and external areas
• Carry out minor maintenance and report defects or hazards
• Support the management of heating systems and building alarms
• Monitor and support on-site contractors
• Help manage janitorial supplies and deliveries
• Contribute to safe access during severe weather and support pupil supervision when needed
• Occasionally provide janitorial cover at other schools within the cluster
