Job summary

Falkirk Council is seeking a Chargehand Cleaner to lead a small on-site cleaning team at Nethermains Primary School. This hands-on role combines cleaning duties with supervision, ensuring a safe, hygienic environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

Hours are 15 per week, Monday to Friday from 5:30am to 8:30am. The contract is temporary until 31 December 2026, with COSHH and safety compliance required; a BICSc certificate is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a range of cleaning tasks including floors, surfaces, toilets and communal areas.
• Operate powered cleaning equipment as required.
• Monitor cleaning quality and ensure work is completed to a high standard.
• Support and supervise cleaning staff on-site, encouraging team working.
• Handle stock control, basic administrative duties and assist with staff induction/training.
• Report faults or issues affecting the service.
• Adhere to COSHH and Health & Safety regulations.

Join Our Facilities Team - Chargehand Cleaner

Do you have an eye for detail, a commitment to high standards, and the confidence to lead by example? We're looking for a proactive and dependable Chargehand Cleaner to join our Facilities (Soft FM) team, supporting one of our schools or early years centres across the Falkirk Council area.

In this hands-on role, you'll combine cleaning duties with day-to-day supervision of a small cleaning team - ensuring a safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

What You'll Do:

• Carry out a range of cleaning tasks including floors, surfaces, toilets and communal areas

• Monitor cleaning quality and ensure work is completed to a high standard

What We're Looking For:

• Experience in cleaning or facilities services is essential

• A British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc) certificate is desirable
