Job summary

Dumfries and Galloway Council is seeking a positive, hands-on Cook 1 at Wallace Hall Academy to help fuel pupils with fresh meals. The role is part-time, 12.5 hours per week across 38 weeks, with shifts 12:00pm–14:30pm.

The starting hourly rate is £13.74. Duties include light food prep, serving meals, dining room setup, cash handling, dishwashing and general kitchen tasks. Full training provided; PVG checks required.

Qualifications

• No formal experience required; full training provided.
• Basic Food Hygiene and Allergen Awareness training will be provided.
• PVG Scheme check required before offer.

Responsibilities

• Light food preparation including baking and cooker tops.
• Serve meals to pupils.
• Set up and decant dining room.
• Set up service area and assist with cash handling as required.
• Dishwashing and general kitchen duties.
• Carry out electronic paperwork and cleaning duties.
