Job summary

Norton Hill School in Midsomer Norton, part of the Midsomer Norton Schools' Partnership, is seeking a General Catering Assistant for 15 hours per week (Mon–Fri 11:30am–2:30pm) start October 2026. Join a cheerful catering team delivering nutritious meals.

You will help with food prep, operate kitchen equipment, handle till transactions and ensure high cleanliness and food safety. The role involves delivering meals to local partner schools using the school catering vehicle when required.

Qualifications

• Reliable, energetic and customer-focused catering assistant.
• Experience with basic food service and kitchen routines is a plus.
• Willingness to comply with food safety and hygiene standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist with basic food preparation and set up food displays.
• Set up dining areas, manage queues and provide friendly service to students and staff.
• Operate cashless till systems and process meals for staff and pupils.
• Maintain cleanliness and comply with food safety and COSHH regulations.
• Deliver meals to local partner schools using the school catering vehicle when required.
