Job summary

St John's C of E Primary School in Midsomer Norton is part of the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership and is seeking a General Catering Assistant to help prepare sandwiches, salads, and pre-mixes for pupils and staff.

You will join a supportive catering team, assist with meal service, and help ensure high standards of food safety. Training and development opportunities are provided within a collaborative school environment.

Qualifications

• Able to perform physical tasks such as bending and lifting.
• Willingness to undertake relevant training.
• Experience in a team environment is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing sandwiches, baguettes, salads, pre-mixes, and simple cooked items.
• Set up dining areas, manage queue flow, clear trays, wipe tables, and operate till systems for cashless catering and meal authorisations.
• Maintain high standards of food safety and wash crockery and equipment according to guidelines.
• Load pre-prepared meals and deliver to local schools when required.
• Operate kitchen machinery safely (training provided).
• Support staff and pupils with a friendly, helpful approach.
• Participate in training and professional development.

• Assist with preparing sandwiches, baguettes, salads, pre-mixes, and simple cooked items using standard industry techniques and equipment.
• Set up dining areas, manage queue flow, clear trays, wipe tables, and operate till systems for cashless catering and meal authorisations.
• Maintain high standards of food safety by washing crockery, utensils, and machinery, conducting daily temperature checks, and following Health & Safety and COSHH guidelines.
• Load pre-prepared meals into the school catering vehicle and deliver them to local schools when required.
