Job summary

eTeach UK Limited is seeking a General Catering Assistant for St John’s C of E Primary School in Midsomer Norton to support meal preparation and dining service. You will help set up dining areas, manage queues, and assist with cashless transactions while ensuring safety and quality of food preparation.

The role is part-time, 12.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday during term time with inset days, and requires a reliable, team-oriented approach with willingness to learn and follow COSHH guidelines.

Qualifications

• Physical fitness for bending, lifting, and moving boxes.
• Excellent teamwork and communication in a school setting.
• Willingness to undertake training and development.
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely (training provided).

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing sandwiches, baguettes, salads, pre-mixes, and simple cooked items using standard industry techniques and equipment.
• Set up dining areas, manage queue flow, clear trays, wipe tables, and operate till systems for cashless catering and meal authorizations.
• Maintain high standards of food safety by washing crockery, utensils, and machinery, conducting daily temperature checks, and following Health & Safety and COSHH guidelines.
• Load pre-prepared meals into the school catering vehicle and deliver them to local schools when required.
