Job summary

Teaching Vacancies seeks a General Catering Assistant to join the Catering Team on a permanent, mobile basis across the Midsomer Norton Schools' Partnership in the Frome area. The role involves working across several school kitchens providing lunch and catering cover.

The position is 15 hours per week, term-time plus inset days, with pay on Grade 1, scale points 3-4 (£13.28-£13.48 p/h; actual annual £8,921-£9,061). Training and strong emphasis on safety and customer service offered.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of meals, sandwiches, salads and other food items.
• Support the cooking of simple items including vegetables and basic meal prep.
• Serve food and provide customer service to pupils and staff.
• Set up and clear dining areas.
• Operate kitchen equipment, dishwashers and cashless tills (training provided).
• Wash crockery, utensils and kitchen equipment.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene.
• Record food and appliance temperatures and support food safety procedures.
• Load and deliver prepared meals to local schools using a catering vehicle.
• Support catering for school events, meetings and functions.
• Work flexibly across different school kitchens to provide essential cover.
