Education Authority in Newtownards is seeking a Catering Assistant to support daily operations in the school catering unit. duties include food preparation, serving meals, maintaining dining areas and assisting with promotion of meals to pupils and parents.

The role requires compliance with regulations, teamwork and a flexible approach to duties. The position is part-time (10 hours per week) with a 11:30am–1:30pm pattern, reporting to the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Basic food and beverage preparation including vegetables and snacks
• Simple cooking and reconstitution of prepared food
• Organising and controlling food service points
• Transferring and serving meals and snacks, including transported meals
• Promoting meals to pupils, parents and staff
• Maintaining contact with central kitchen regarding service delivery
• Preparing dining area and setting tables, cutlery and serving points
• General kitchen and dining room duties including washing up and clearing equipment
• Cleaning kitchen/servery, dining room and equipment
• Recording temperatures for control purposes
• Securing premises as required
• Completing duties in line with statutory requirements and school policies
• Completing necessary administration and duties within competence
• Promoting school values and ethos
