Job summary

BSWA in Birmingham is seeking a Refuge Housekeeper to maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety in our refuges. The 22-hour-per-week role supports women and children, covering Birmingham and occasional Solihull sites, with duties including room preparation and routine maintenance.

Workdays are typically five days between 9am and 5pm. You will follow established procedures, manage supplies, and liaise with the Refuge Manager to ensure a welcoming, secure environment for service users.

Qualifications

• Commitment to services for women and children affected by domestic violence.
• Experience in a residential setting and health & safety compliance.
• Autonomy, confidentiality and ability to follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain housekeeping programmes to keep refuge clean and safe.
• Prepare flats/rooms for occupancy as vacancies arise.
• Carry out admin tasks within BSWA systems and records.
• Maintain health and safety checks and report issues to the Refuge Manager.
• Communicate with staff to ensure welfare and security of service users.
