Job summary

AZTRUM in Cambridge is seeking a Senior/Principal Electrical Engineer to join us on a three-day-a-week basis, leading electrical design across a diverse portfolio of Building Services projects. You will deliver hands-on technical work and mentor junior engineers.

The role offers progression toward Principal, with strong client engagement and design leadership. Enjoy real ownership, a supportive SME environment, and the chance to shape our electrical engineering direction.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Substantial experience within a Building Services/MEP consultancy.
• Deep technical knowledge of electrical building services design.
• Senior Engineer level experience with progression to Principal potential.
• Chartered or working towards Chartership (ideal).
• Mentoring or supporting less experienced engineers.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design across a range of building services projects.
• Own the technical delivery of electrical packages from concept to completion.
• Review and sign off calculations, specifications, drawings and reports.
• Ensure designs meet relevant regulations, standards and best practice.
• Guide and mentor junior and intermediate engineers.
• Collaborate with clients, architects and project teams.
• Build and nurture strong client relationships.
• Support project delivery, technical coordination and design reviews.
• Contribute to business development, tenders and fee proposals.
• Help shape and improve the consultancy's electrical engineering processes.
