Job summary

Beeby Anderson Recruitment is seeking a Principal/Associate Electrical Engineer for a prominent building services practice in Cambridge. You will lead electrical design and delivery across multiple projects, mentor engineers, and shape the division's strategic direction.

You will manage client relationships, oversee budgets and schedules, ensure compliance with health and safety standards, and drive sustainable, low‑carbon solutions in all designs.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with a recognized institution is desirable (e.g., CIBSE or IMechE).
• Extensive experience in Electrical building services design within the UK construction industry.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of electrical engineers, providing guidance, mentoring, and professional development.
• Oversee resource planning and allocation to ensure efficient project delivery.
• Support the Managing Director of Building Services in business development and strategic planning initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and industry best practices.
• Take responsibility for the design, specification, and delivery of electrical engineering solutions across a range of building services projects.
• Provide technical oversight and quality assurance for all electrical designs, calculations, and reports.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring client expectations are met or exceeded.
• Engage with other disciplines to ensure seamless coordination of services.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Attend client meetings, presenting technical solutions clearly and confidently.
• Support bids, tenders, and proposal writing, contributing to the company’s business development strategy.
• Promote sustainable and low-carbon solutions within electrical designs.
• Keep abreast of emerging technologies, regulations, and industry trends.
• Encourage innovation and the use of advanced software tools for design and analysis.

Requirements
