Job summary

Hemyock Primary School is seeking a committed Teaching Assistant to support pupils’ learning, wellbeing and development in a warm, inclusive environment. The role involves assisting with classroom and small-group learning, safeguarding, and promoting positive behaviour.

The position is fixed term, 6.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, until 31 August 2027, with an enhanced DBS disclosure required. Salary is NJC Grade C pro-rata for hours worked.

Qualifications

• Experience working with or caring for children of a relevant age.
• Knowledge of safeguarding practice and strategies to remove barriers to learning.
• Strong communication skills, including fluency in spoken English.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Support learning in the classroom and small-group settings.
• Assist with literacy and numeracy interventions.
• Prepare learning resources and assist with planning cycles.
• Promote positive behaviour and pupil independence.
• Supervise during breaks/lunchtimes and accompany pupils on trips when required.
