Job summary

Hepworth Preschool and OOSC Wrap Around in Holmfirth is seeking a part-time playworker to support children aged 2–11 during term-time. The role involves breakfast and after-school sessions, split shifts, and engaging children in structured play and activities.

Experience with children and a Level 3 childcare qualification are essential, along with current first aid and food hygiene certificates or a commitment to obtain them. DBS check and references required.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children aged 2–11 is essential.
• A relevant childcare qualification (Level 3) is essential.
• Current first aid and food hygiene certificates are essential or willingness to work towards them asap.
• A full enhanced DBS check and two suitable references (one from a previous employer) are required.

Responsibilities

• Supervision and engagement: plan and lead age-appropriate play, arts and crafts, and indoor/outdoor games.
• Health and safety: maintain a safe, secure, welcoming environment and manage risk assessments.
• Meal and snack support: help prepare and serve healthy breakfast options and meals, respecting dietary requirements.
• Behaviour management: support positive behaviour and inclusivity among children.
• Teamwork: collaborate with preschool and OOSC staff and communicate with parents at drop-offs and collections.

Part-time Playworker – Hepworth Preschool and OOSC Wrap Around.

We are hiring!

An exciting opportunity has just opened for a passionate part-time playworker to join our fabulous team at Hepworth pre-school and out of school club.

* Hours: 21.75 approx. per week (Term time only)

* Working days: Monday to Friday (Term time only)

* Working hours: (Split shifts required)

* Breakfast club: 7:15am – 9am (Monday to Friday)

* OOSC: 3pm – 6:15pm (Monday to Thursday)

* This position could extend into the preschool day at times, if required.

What the role involves:

Supervision & engagement – Planning and leading engaging, age – appropriate play activities, arts and crafts and indoor/ outdoor games for children.

Health & safety – Ensuring a safe, secure and welcoming environment following safeguarding procedures and managing risk assessments during activities.

Meal & snack support – Assisting with the preparation and serving of healthy breakfast options and OOSC meals, ensuring dietary requirements are met.

Behaviour management – Supporting positive behaviour management strategies and fostering inclusivity among all the children attending.

Teamwork – Working collaboratively with other Pre-school and OOSC club staff and maintaining positive communication with parents during drop-offs and collections.

What we are looking for: (Requirements/ person specifications)

Experience – Previous experience working with children aged 2-11, such as in schools, nurseries or holiday clubs is essential.

Qualifications – A relevant childcare qualification (Level 3 in childcare) is essential

Certifications – Current first aid and food hygiene certificates are essential ( or a willingness to work towards them asap)

Vetting – The successful candidate must undergo a full enhanced live DBS check (Disclosure and barring service) and have 2 suitable references, one being a previous employer.
