Job summary

Mersey West Lancashire NHS Trust is seeking a Band 2 Phlebotomist to join the team at Southport & Ormskirk Hospitals on a 17.5-hour per week contract. Applicants with flexible, hardworking attitudes are encouraged; prior phlebotomy is desirable but training will be given. You will work in the Outpatient Department and across Trust sites as required.

Interviews are planned for the week starting 26 October. The role focuses on safe blood collection, sample transport, teamwork, and patient-centred

Qualifications

• Flexible, hardworking individuals are invited to apply.
• Previous phlebotomy experience is desirable but training will be provided.
• Post based at Southport & Ormskirk Hospitals with work across sites within the Trust.
• Interviews to be held week commencing 26 October.

Responsibilities

• Safe collection and labelling of venous blood samples.
• Transport samples to the laboratory reception within the required time frame.
• Maintain good working relationships and promote teamwork.
• Participate in shift handover and attend team meetings.
• Advise when stocks of consumables are low and arrange orders as needed.
• Deliver courteous patient care and put patients at ease.
