Job description

Our client based in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking an experienced Part-Time Payroll Officer to join their busy team on a term-time basis, plus one additional week per year. In this role, you will support the Payroll Manager with monthly payroll and pension administration, reconciliations, and the maintenance of payroll records and audit processes. For the Part-Time Payroll Officer role, we are looking for a highly organised and computer-literate individual with proven payroll experience and excellent attention to detail.

Job Description:
  • Create and maintain all payroll records
  • Provide salary benchmarking information
  • Carry out monthly payroll checks and reconciliations by reviewing payroll reports, new starters, leavers, contractual changes, additional hours, deductions and pension contributions through the payroll system
  • Escalating any discrepancies
  • Maintain the filing system for payroll records
  • Support payroll audits and assist with the preparation of payroll-related documentation and reports.
  • Provide support with recruitment administration, absence management, and contractual pay matters
  • Administer claims for additional payments and deductions
  • Calculate pay variations including back pay, holiday pay and unpaid leave
  • Ensure all salary, overtime, and expense claims are accurate and processed correctly.
  • Contribute to the preparation and monitoring of staff budgets.
  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of annual employee pay statements.
  • Act as a key point of contact for payroll and pension-related queries
  • To support with the smooth running of the Payroll/Pension function when required
  • Support with other duties including HR, training and first aid when required
Candidate Requirements:
  • Strong payroll and pensions experience is essential
  • Must have an understanding of HMRC payroll requirements
  • Ideally have experience using MIS systems
  • Experience using MyView system or similar
  • Be able to complete a DBS certificate
  • Good analytical skills and be able to complete routine calculations
  • GCSE in Maths & English
  • Must be computer literate including the use of Word and Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Full understanding of confidentiality and data protection
  • Be able to work to deadlines

Hours: Monday to Friday: 20 hours per week over 3/4 days

Salary: £13,859 - £15,034 per annum DOE
