Job summary

SF Partners in Derby is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to join on a part-time, office-based basis. You will own the monthly payroll process, ensuring accurate payments and full compliance with current UK legislation.

You will also manage RTI submissions, liaise with HMRC and pension providers, and support month-end reporting. This role suits a detail‑oriented payroll professional looking for a stable, long‑term opportunity within a supportive finance team, with the chance to implement

Qualifications

• Experience managing an end-to-end payroll function.
• A recognised payroll qualification (CIPP or equivalent) preferred.
• Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, statutory payments and pensions.
• Experience using payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of the payroll function.

Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end monthly payroll process.
• Ensure payroll is compliant with HMRC, PAYE, NI and pension requirements.
• Prepare RTI filings and pension submissions.
• Complete payroll reconciliations and month-end reporting.
• Liaise with HMRC, pension providers and external bodies.
• Respond to payroll queries from employees and managers.
• Maintain accurate payroll records and confidentiality.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and controls.
• Collaborate with Payroll and Finance teams to ensure data accuracy.
