Job summary

Practice Plus Group Holdings Limited is seeking a confident Consultant Ophthalmologist for a part-time role at our Gillingham Surgical Centre. You will lead high-volume cataract surgery and provide comprehensive ophthalmic care within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring patient safety and high-quality outcomes.

The role requires at least 5 years as an NHS consultant in ophthalmology, with GMC specialist registration and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' NHS consultant ophthalmology experience.
• Proven cataract surgery experience including phacoemulsification.
• GMC specialist registration in Ophthalmology and full registration.
• Excellent communication and collaborative team approach.
• Commitment to clinical governance, audit and CPD.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-volume cataract surgery and perioperative care.
• Provide pre-, intra-, and post-operative ophthalmic care.
• Contribute expertise in oculoplastics and Wet AMD.
• Work with consultants, nursing teams and MDT to optimise outcomes.
• Participate in outpatient clinics, theatre sessions and governance activities.
• Support service development, audit and continuous improvement.
