Practice Plus Group is seeking a confident Consultant Ophthalmologist to join our ophthalmology team at the Gillingham Surgical Centre. This is a part-time employed position ideal for an experienced consultant seeking flexibility alongside existing commitments.

You will perform high-volume cataract surgeries, provide full ophthalmic care, and contribute to oculoplastics and medical retina services. The role offers a supportive MDT environment and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as an NHS consultant in ophthalmology.
• Proven track record in high-volume cataract surgery.
• Experience in oculoplastics and medical retina (Wet AMD) preferred.
• Full GMC registration with specialist registration in Ophthalmology.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Commitment to clinical governance, audit and CPD.

Responsabilités

• Deliver high-volume cataract surgery, including phacoemulsification under topical anaesthesia.
• Provide comprehensive pre-, intra-, and post-operative ophthalmic care.
• Contribute expertise in oculoplastics and medical retina/Wet AMD.
• Collaborate with consultants, nursing teams and MDT to ensure excellent outcomes.
• Participate in outpatient clinics, theatre sessions and governance activities.
• Support service development, audits and continuous improvement within ophthalmology.
• Maintain high clinical standards, patient safety and quality outcomes.
