Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde invites applications for a part-time Ophthalmology support role based at Gartnavel General Hospital. You will work with eye care professionals to support high-quality patient care and smooth clinic operation.

Comprehensive training will be provided, with attendance during normal hours. This fixed-term post (6 months) offers flexible working patterns and NHS benefits, including pension provision and staff development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Standard Grades including English or equivalent qualifications or relevant experience
• SVQ Level 2 in Healthcare or willingness to work towards this qualification
• Experience working in a caring environment or customer-focused role
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and follow established procedures
• Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and work using your own initiative
• Proficient keyboard and IT skills with experience using Microsoft Office applications and data entry systems
• Have previous visual field testing experience

Responsibilities

• Perform a range of ophthalmic investigations, including visual field testing
• Visual acuity measurements
• Intraocular pressure assessment
• Gather and record clinical information from patients with glaucoma
• Support the smooth running of clinics
• Undertaking administrative duties as required
